Hazel Kinnersley
Hello! I'm
(They/Them/She)

About Me
I am a passionate theater artist hailing from Brattleboro, Vermont, and a recent Acting BFA graduate from Syracuse University's Department of Drama. I have expanded the reach of my Syracuse education to include a semester in London, with specialized Shakespeare training at the Globe Theater and the Tepper semester in New York City. I was also selected as one of thirteen performance students to visit Los Angeles for Sorkin Week, where I immersed myself in the television/film industry.
I have a particular penchant for absurd and experimental works, ensemble-based projects, and devised pieces, especially those concerning gender identity, neurodivergence, and queerness. I believe in the dramatic arts leading us to a more empathetic world.
Outside of acting, I have a passion for crafting and design in a variety of mediums. Some of these interests I have brought to dramatic projects (like creating my own costume and crafting ornate goblets out of trash for The Skriker, or doing SFX makeup for student films), while others have been just for me (like embroidery, acrylic painting, watercolors, or collaging). However, I do believe that every aspect of my life can contribute to my work in the dramatic arts, and I hope to give back even a fraction of what theater, film, and television have given me.
In my freshman year at Syracuse, my favorite person and the best dad I could ever wish for, Jonathan Kinnersley, died of ALS. When he was healthy, we saw each other's plays, when he got sick, we still watched every new episode of Bob's Burgers together as they were released, and after he died, I looked for art to make the grief a little less lonely. He is the reason I am who I am and do what I do. People say grief is love with nowhere to go. I choose to pour that extra love into my art and, in doing so, bring a part of him to every project.
